CEBU, Philippines —  The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth)-7 has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Mactan Airport Porters Association-Associated Labor Union (MAPA-ALU) and with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-7 during its AlaGa Ka or “Benepisyong PhilHealth, Alamin at Gamitin” campaign for organized groups last Thursday.

MAPA-ALU signed the MOA with PhilHealth for the health insurance coverage of its porters, while the DENR entered into a similar agreement for the coverage of its job order personnel.

PhilHealth has a group enrollment scheme under its informal economy program, where individually paying members can register and pay premium as organized groups.

In a statement, PhilHealth said that more than 30 associations, cooperatives, and organized groups, as well as representatives of government agencies in Central Visayas, attended the AlaGa Ka activity for an orientation and for updates on the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP) and to avail of the mobile services provided by PhilHealth Cebu, such as the updating of Member Data Records and ID card issuance.

During the event, PhilHealth also recognized organized group partners for their support to the NHIP.

The RAFI Microfinance, Inc. and the Members Church of God International were honored for their continued partnership with PhilHealth.

The Cebu People’s Multipurpose Cooperative and the Philippine Crop Insurance were also recognized for being religious contributing partners, having no lapses in their premium payments.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development and the Department of Health-Central Visayas Center for Health Development also received awards for having the largest number of enrolled members under the group enrollment scheme.

The statement added that despite issues that the management of PhilHealth is currently facing, the agency remained steadfast in serving its members and partners. — GAN (FREEMAN)
