1 thousand fruit-bearing trees planted
CEBU, Philippines — Around 1,000 fruits bearing trees were planted in Magsico, an upland barangay of San Fernando, Cebu yesterday.
Prior to the tree-planting activity, a mass for the environment participated in by 22 parishes belonging to the District 3 of the archdiocese’s Basic Ecclesial Community.
The activity was held in Solid Earth Development Corp. (SEDC)-San Augustin de Hippo Ecotourism Park, which was developed by SEDC with the archdiocese.
Fr.Marfe Sarsonas, parish priest, said that the tree-planting was for the replacement of the 300 trees cut down during the construction of the International Eucharistic Cebu Convention Center (IC3).
Dennis Tenafrancia, director of Solid Earth Development Corporation (SEDC), said that for the past three years, the Magsico Ecopark, has become a pocket forest from an abandoned idled land where the people can rest and relax. — Ma.Mae Labora and Zesusita Belarmino CNU Interns/MBG (FREEMAN)
