5 men rob Palawan pawnshop
CEBU, Philippines — Five men robbed pawnshop in broad daylight last Monday carting away about P40,000 cash.
The robbers threatened to pour gasoline into the counter of Palawan Pawnshop in Barangay Tayud, Liloan forcing the cashiers to open the door to their cubicle.
Case investigator PO3 Andrew Llanes of Liloan Police said that the robbers carried handguns.
One of the victims claimed one of the robbers was carrying a grenade.
Chief Inspector Danilo Poliferio, chief of Liloan police, said they could be members of an organized crime group.
The robbers wore surgical masks and full-faced helmet and they were using motorbikes with no plate numbers while their backups were riding a black van.
Poliferio added they are looking into an inside job and they have confiscated the cellphone of the two security guards.
He said the guard attempted to fight off the robbers but they were able to disarm the guard.
The cellphones have been turned over to the PNP Crime Laboratory for checking of text messages.
