10 men yield P2.1 million drugs

CEBU, Philippines —  A total of over P2.1 million worth of illegal drugs were seized from 10 men who were arrested by policemen in separate operations in Cebu City last Thursday.

The first operation was conducted along Juana Osmeña Street, Sacred Heart Hills, Barangay Capitol Site, Cebu City, where John Dy, 42; and Michael Dy, 30, both residents of the area, were arrested via search warrant.

Chief Inspector Chuck Barandog and his team implemented the said warrant and seized from the suspects 26 grams of suspected shabu estimated at P309,000, a .32 cal. revolver, a lighter, and drug paraphernalia.

The second operation was conducted in an apartelle in Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City, where police arrested Junie Alcober, 40, a resident of Sitio Ponce 1, Barangay Carreta; and Melody Mosquera, 27, a resident of Sitio City Central Barangay Luz.

Confiscated from them were three medium and 12 small packs of suspected shabu estimated at P655,000 and drugs paraphernalia. The said operation was carried out by Chief Inspector Dindo Alaras who was acting on a tip they received that those arrested were involved in illegal drugs.

In Sitio Camansi, Barangay Mambaling, Arlie "Aling" Presillas, 24, a resident of the area, and Christina Flor Toyco, 24, from Zamboanga del Sur were arrested with 20 grams of suspected shabu estimated at P237,000.

Another operation in Sitio Ponce 2, Barangay Carreta led to the arrest of Rene "Ening" Mercado; John Kevin Talingting, 19; and Bienvenido Cabardo, 49, who were found with P830,000 worth of suspected shabu.

In Barangay San Nicolas police also arrested Eugene Managuit, 32, a resident of the area, in an operation along Cabreros Street. The operation headed by Chief Inspector Henriz Bancoleta yielded eight grams of suspected shabu estimated at P95,000 and .45 cal. pistol with seven live rounds.
