1 dead, 1 critical in 2 shooting incidents

CEBU, Philippines —  A 28-year-old man was shot dead in Sitio Balangka - Puna, Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City Thursday evening.

 

The victim, Gaspar Armodia, a resident of the sitio, succumbed to two gunshot wounds to his right face. The bullets pierced through his head, resulting in his instantaneous death.

The suspect, whose name is withheld as not to hinder police investigation, is still at large as of this writing.

Senior Inspector Edward Sanchez, Cebu City Police Station 2 chief, said the suspect and Armodia, who are neighbors, had an argument prior to the incident.

The suspect was identified by the witnesses, said Sanchez.

"Lalis gamay, gipusil. Pagkaduha na pusil, sa ulo man, natumba (Armodia) mao to nidagan na dayon (suspect),” he said.

Police are looking into personal grudge as possible motive behind the killing.

In a separate shooting incident, a man is in critical condition after being shot by an unidentified suspect on Leon Kilat Street, Cebu City Wednesday dawn.

Jhonrey Candado, 26, suffered a gunshot wound to his forehead. He was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center.

Based on initial investigation, Carbon police said that Candado is allegedly a pimp whose workers steal from clients. —Marjory Enriquez and Imarie Madarieta, USJ-R Interns, KBQ (FREEMAN)
