Capitol delivers P5M services during caravan

CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu provincial government spent at least P5 million for its first caravan of services for the year 2018.

Their activities included a medical-dental mission, veterinary services, and turnover of agricultural equipment to the city of Toledo and the towns of Asturias, Balamban, Pinamungajan, and Tuburan.

Nine sets of foldable emergency shelters worth P4.5 million were turned over to the municipality of Balamban. Eight of which has a vertical height of 20 feet while one measures 40 feet. The funds were sourced out from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).

The Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) handed over P427,000 worth of farm equipment and tools. These include a rice reaper worth P250,000 which was given to Canlumampao Rice Farmers Association.

One set of water pump was also given to Cabitoonan Progressive Farmers Association in Toledo City.

At least 80 blue plastic drums with a total worth of P120,000 were equally divided and also given to the four municipalities. Twenty-five units of hand jabber also known as formalite were given. Fifteen of which went to the Toledo City Farmers Scientist Association while the other 10 went to the Asturias Farmers Scientist Association.

A set of 'Go Organic Techno Demo's input amounting to P30,000 was given to the Asturias Farmers Scientists Association. It consists of vermi compost, plastic mulch, seedling tray, empty drum, weighing scale, probiotics, hatake powder (microbial fertilizer), knapsack sprayer, potting medium, plastic crates, assorted vegetable seeds, and super net fly.

An electric dryer for coco sugar production worth P280,000 and a vertical sealer were given to farmer growers Association of Landajan, Toledo City.

The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) gave away P723,619.44 worth of agri-fishery indemnity checks for 104 farmers from the three towns and a city.

There were also 10 wheelchairs and five pairs of crutches distributed to the identified beneficiaries.

Each of the 28 barangays in Balamban town was also allocated with 20 reading glasses primarily for their senior citizens. A total of 560 pairs of glasses were distributed.

The Provincial Health Office (PHO) screened 217 patients. After a medical assessment, those who were physically qualified can undergo a minor or major operation for free in the province-owned hospital.

Centenarian Marcelo Eleadora from Toledo City also received a P50,000 check from the provincial government.

Governor Hilario Davide III said the caravan of services is the government’s way of bringing the services closer to the people. (FREEMAN)
