CEBU, Philippines - An inventory of AWOL, suspended, and even dismissed policemen is currently being conducted by the Provincial Intelligence Branch of the Cebu Provincial Police Office following reports that some of them are involved in illegal drugs and illegal gambling.

PIB chief, Supt. Rodolfo Albotra, said they will be accounting all of these police officers based on the records of the personnel division.

“Among tan-awn kung kinsa to’ng naa pa sa among area nga walay mga trabaho kay sagad sila maoy prone ani’ng mga illegal activities,” Albotra said.

Albotra admitted that there many policemen in the province who have gone AWOL or absent without official leave. Some of them were already dismissed from service because of their involvement in illegal activities.

“I will direct the station commanders to coordinate with us with regards to this,” Albotra said.

He mentioned a former police officer from northern Cebu who is now known as drug protector. Albotra, however, refused to give the name of the ex-policeman who is now out on bail.

He said that the former policeman was charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 and Republic Act 8294.

Recently, two policemen were ordered dismissed by the Police Regional Office-7 after they were found guilty of grave misconduct. PO1 Jose Emmanuel Deluvio and PO1 Caesar Montaez, both assigned at the CPPO, tested positive for illegal drug use. (FREEMAN)
