Man hangs self

CEBU, Philippines - A 21-year-old man, believed to have committed suicide, was found dead hanging from a tree in Barangay Cantabaco, Toledo City last Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Bacarro Selgas, single and a resident of the same place, was found by his neighbor, Herbacio Alfiran Mahinay, 50 meters away from his house around 1 p.m. while the latter was gathering firewood.

Mahinay, 63, said he saw Selgas hanging with a nylon rope looped around his neck while the other end was tied to a branch of a mango tree. Initial police investigation shows that Selgas was scolded by his father for being staying out late at night.

PO3 Salvador Samidlano, officer-in-charge of Toledo City Police Station, said that Selgas left from their house at 6 p.m. last Saturday and did not come home anymore.

Police are still conducting a follow-up investigation to determine the real cause of the incident.  (FREEMAN)
