Daluz gives up scholarship committee

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Councilor Jose Daluz III will no longer be handling the Cebu City Scholarship Committee.

Mayor Michael Rama has designated Department of Social Welfare and Services chief Ester Concha as his authorized representative to the Cebu City College Scholarship Program effective yesterday.

She will represent the mayor, who is the chairperson of the scholarship committee as per the recently Scholarship Ordinance.

Daluz said that he has to give up some executive functions in order to focus on the other more important jobs. He said he wants to focus on the Local School Board. He would also need his time in campaigning for the Team Rama after the mayor made him the campaign manager.

Aside from the Local School Board and the Scholarship Committee, Daluz used to hold other positions like in the Bids and Awards Committee Technical Working Group.

The mayor apparently is entrusting him with a lot of things being one of the few allies in the council.

Daluz said Concha will be a good replacement since she is heading the social welfare office. The scholarship program providing P10,000 tuition assistance per semester to Cebu City scholars is a supposedly social services’ program. Concha heads the DSWS since July this year.

Daluz, who is on his third term as Cebu City councilor, serves as the campaign manager of the Team Rama.

Daluz said he will be campaigning for a big team so it is an advantage to lose a few responsibility. – (FREEMAN)
