Tsuneishi worker dead in accident

CEBU, Philippines - A worker of Tsuneishi Heavy Industries was killed while two others were hurt in an accident inside the company’s building dock in Barangay Buanoy, Balamban town, Cebu, last Thursday afternoon.

Randy Agsoy, 21, single, and a resident of Barangay Arpili of the same town, was killed on the spot while his co-workers Rolly Narciso, 20, of Barangay Abucayan, and Kenneth Villarosa, 30, married and residing in Barangay Cambuhawe, were only slightly injured.

The three victims are DMD subcontractors.

SPO1 Jose Ranielito Villarino, desk officer of the Balamban Police Station said the three workers were working at the main hole of the portside wing, which is 80 meters from the ground, when the accident happened.

The electronic blower that they were operating suddenly exploded without warning, Agsoy was above a manhole cover which was thrown away by the blast.

Agsoy fell to his death to the concrete below. Narciso and Villarosa were spared by the blast and only sustained slight injuries.

Department of Labor and Employment representatives and the PNP are now conducting separate investigations into the accident.  (FREEMAN)
