CH releases rice gift for brgy workers

CEBU, Philippines - The officials and workers of the 80 barangays in Cebu City yesterday received their annual sack of rice as gift from the city government.

Mayor Michael Rama distributed the certificates to the barangay captains who claimed in behalf of their respective officials and workers.

The rice subsidy to the barangay officials and workers has a yearly budget of P8 Million, said Councilor Jose Daluz III.

Daluz said that this is the fourth time that the city has given the rice gift to the barangay officials and employees.

After the distribution of the certificates, the barangay captains proceeded to the National Food Authority to claim the sacks of rice.

Daluz said that they do not bid for the rice traders anymore since it is more convenient to partner with the NFA.

Included in the barangays that already claimed their rice subsidies yesterday were: Barangays Punta Princessa, Pasil, Sapangdako, Kalunasan, Sawang Calero, Kinasang-an, Basak Pardo, Mambaling, Basak San Nicolas, Poblacion Pardo, Labangon, Pamutan and Toong. (FREEMAN)
