Talamban shooting victim's wife denies hand in crime

CEBU, Philippines - The wife of one of the victims of the recent shooting in Talamban Glass Supply that left two people dead went to the police yesterday to deny her involvement in the attack.

Sussane Guyamat, one of those suspects behind the incident, went to the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office yesterday and said she could not possibly kill her husband, Randy Librando whom she “loves so much.”

Guyamat, according to PO3 Ruth Violango, one of the investigators, said she that has learned of the incident only through the news the day after the shooting.

Two unidentified men shot and killed Librando, 39, and Dioscoro Abendan, 45, brother of Thelma Ygot, who was also injured in the attack last Thursday

They were inside the store when the assailants went inside acting as customers, but later approached Librando and shot him. Abenda, who came to his rescue, was also killed while Ygot was hit with stray bullets.

Guyamat, who brought along with her a lawyer, said she also would not know anyone who might have wanted her husband killed.

Violango said Guyamat told them she filed an annulment case against the victim in 2007 but it was dismissed in March this year because of lack of evidence. Also, she was no longer interested in getting their marriage annulled.

“Kay on and off man daw ilang relasyon. Pag-October 6 last year, gibiyaan daw sila ni Randy nya mibalik ra pag December 25 para ra pud muhatag ug regalo sa ilang anak,” Violango said. The couple has a five-year-old son.

On the month Guyamat’s case was dismissed, Librando filed the same annulment case.

Police said in an earlier report that Librando is currently in a relationship with Ygot, who owns the establishment where Librando works as a driver.

Guyamat said she would have wanted to visit her husband’s wake but is afraid of his family who is strongly suspecting her as the culprit.

Violango said they are not declaring Guyamat as suspect yet, saying that there is another possible suspect on the side of Ygot.

Ygot’s previous lover, who also used to be her driver, is currently imprisoned at the Muntinlupa City Jail for shooting her husband to death some time in 2003 because of jealousy.

Violango said they have yet to check the jail if the suspect is still there. They will also visit Ygot at the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital where she was transferred from the North General Hospital to get her statements.

They will also come up an artist’s sketch of the gunmen possibly through Ygot’s account and that of other witnesses. — (FREEMAN)
