2 girls hit by stray bullet during gang fight

CEBU, Philippines - Two 13-year-old girls were injured after they were hit by stray bullets coming from two fighting groups of youths who passed them in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, around 10 p.m. last Wednesday.

The girls, both 1st year high school students of the Mambaling Night High School and residents of sitio Ibabao of the said barangay, were reportedly talking near an Automated Tubig Machine by the roadside when they noticed a group of young men, being chased by another group, coming towards their direction.

They then heard a gunshot and one of the victims only realized that she was hit on the lower left part of her back with the bullet exiting through the front.

The other girl was also grazed in her right arm.

Their respective families took them to the Cebu City Medical Center. They are now in stable condition while the perpetrators fled.

The girls claimed the youths were members of rival gangs but said they could not identify any of them.

Police suspect the incident was a rumble between rival gangs Crips and Bloods and that the shooter came from the Crips. (FREEMAN NEWS)
