Chiong peeved about "drunkard" cop in Naga

CEBU, Philippines - After receiving derogatory reports Naga City Mayor-elect Valdemar Chiong complained that the Cebu Provincial Police Office assigned a “drunkard” police official to his city.

Chiong, who was interviewed in a local radio station last Monday, even asked what he did to make CPPO acting director Sr. Supt. Erson Digal assign Sr. Insp. Wilfredo Giducos to the Naga Police Station.

Giducos is the former chief of Tudela Police Station and was transferred to Naga following reports received by Digal of his alleged frequent drunkenness.

Chiong was prompted to suspect that Digal is harboring a grudge against him because of a previous encounter between them.

Prior to the election, the mayor reportedly complained and questioned Digal for recommending that Naga City be included in the Election Watchlist of Areas under the Commission on Election.

Digal, when sought for comment, said he is not harboring any ill feelings against the mayor.

The police official explained that he assigned Giducos in Naga police as an ordinary policeman and will not be occupying any position.

Digal, however, clarified and told that Chiong need not worry because Giducos is not a violent police official.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
