CEBU, Philippines - A police officer assigned at Malabuyoc Police Station died in a road accident in Sitio Landing, Barangay Daan Lungsod, Medellin last Monday night.

PO3 Edgar Perez, a resident of Barangay Antipolo, Medellin, succumbed to severe injuries in different parts of his body.

Initial investigation conducted by Medellin police revealed that around 10:40 p.m., Perez was driving his motorcycle on his way home after attending a fiesta celebration in Barangay Poblacion.

But upon reaching the area, another motorcycle, driven by Roland Sunit, 17, which was running on high speed on the opposite lane, suddenly collided with the policeman’s vehicle.

“Head-on gyud ni sila mao na nga grabe gyud ang damage pero ang nagrabehan gyud ang kining police,” said PO2 Roland Ruben of Medellin Police Station.

Sunit was allegedly with a back rider, Kyle France Duba, 14.

Sunit allegedly tried to overtake a tricycle but he failed to notice the policeman driving on the opposite lane that resulted in the collision.

Both the policeman and the two minors were rushed to Severo Verallo Memorial Hospital in Bogo City but the attending physician declared Perez dead on arrival. The doctor referred Sunit to a hospital in Cebu City while Duba was released after treatment and found out that he was already out of danger.   (FREEMAN NEWS)
