CEBU, Philippines - The top police and military officials in the country are here today to lead the more than 3,000 participants of the covenant run initiated by the Police Regional Office-7 and the Central Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines together with the Commission on Elections and the religious sector for the clean and honest elections next month.

PNP Chief Jesus Verzosa will lead the 1,600 police and military contingents together with PRO-7 chief Lani-O Nerez and Central Command chief Lt. Gen. Ralph Villanueva.

Aside from the police and military personnel, the police is expecting another 1,500 participants from the Catholic Church and other religious organizations who are supporting the campaign for the clean and honest May 10 elections.

Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and Comelec regional director Rey Rene Buac are expected to deliver messages on the significance of honest, orderly and peaceful elections as the country embarks the first poll automation.

The activity dubbed as “Dagan Alang sa Matinud-anon, Hapsay ug Malinawon nga Piniliay 2010” will start at 4:30 a.m. from four different assembly points. The assembly areas include the Capitol grounds, Fuente Osmeña Rotunda, PRO-7 and Cebu City Police headquarters.
