CEBU, Philippines - A 50-year-old PUJ operator was shot to death by his son’s enemy last Saturday evening in Sitio Bahak, Barangay Poblacion, Liloan town.
Ranulfo Yuson, widower but now has a live-in partner, sustained two gunshot wounds in the different parts of his body and was declared dead on arrival at the Eversley Child Sanitarium Hospital in Mandaue City.
The suspect, who police identified as Nader Marikit, 25, a “habal-habal” driver and resident of Barangay Tabla, immediately fled after the incident and remains at large until now.
Initial investigation conducted revealed that prior to the incident, the victim’s son, Ranulfo Jr., engaged in a heated argument with the suspect. Irked, Ranulfo Jr. allegedly went home and came back with a bolo.
When Ranulfo Sr. heard of the report on what happened between his son and the suspect, he immediately went to the area and without any provocation boxed Marikit that prompted the latter to pull out an unknown firearm and shot him twice.
PO2 Rutchel Jugalbot of Liloan Police Station said that Ranulfo Jr., who is also a “habal-habal” driver, and the suspect are usually teasing each other and exchanging trash talks which caused to heated argument and fist fight.
“Magsungogay man’ing duha unya mag-away dayun. Kining junior sa biktima magpahaba man dayun ni ngadto sa iyang amahan. Unya ang amahan pud mulaban dayun mao nga nasukmagan jud ning suspect sa amahan niadtong miaging mga buwan,” PO2 Jugalbot said.
The police believed that the suspect had also a grudge against Ranulfo Sr., which led him to shot the victim. — Gabriel C. Bonjoc/WAB (THE FREEMAN)
