2 killed, 1 hurt in road collision

-

CEBU - A collision between a government-owned Isuzu truck and a motorcycle claimed the lives of two persons and resulted to the hospitalization of another one along the national road of sitio Cayam, barangay Colon, Naga City last Tuesday.

The fatalities were motorcycle driver Benigno Campus Mañigos, resident of Malolos in the town of Barili, and his passenger Basilisa Sanchez, resident of Cantabugon Aloguinsan.

There were unconfirmed reports that another passenger of the motorcycle, identified as Joel Saberon, a live-in partner of Sanchez, also died because of fatal wounds he sustained due to the impact.

PO1 Ken Cabrera of Naga City Police Station said the motorcycle, bearing plate numbers GE- 2772, was bound for Cebu City while the Isuzu mini dump truck with plate numbers SGN-999 driven by Rogelio Denoy, resident of Poblacion town of Malabuyoc was traveling on the opposite land towards the south.

Suddenly, the motorcycle overtook another vehicle and the Isuzu mini dump truck, which was allegedly on high speed, failed to evade the motorcycle that resulted in a collision.

“Si Sanchez mao ni ang gikumpirmar nga patay diha-diha samtang si Mañigos, ang driver, namatay diha sa hospital sa South Gen. Unya si Saberon dili ko mo konpirmar nga patay na basta kay dili na kini dawatun sa mga doctor kay grabe na ang kahimtang niini,” PO1 Cabrera said.

Denoy is now detained at the police station while waiting for the appropriate charges to be filed against him. — Christopher Gabriel Bonjoc/WAB   (THE FREEMAN)
