CPPO to prioritize Talisay City police

CEBU - Due to the lack of qualified police officials to fill in the key positions, the Cebu Provincial Police Office will, for now, prioritize the search for the next Talisay City Police Station chief.

CPPO director Carmelo Valmoria said in yesterday’s fourth quarter meeting at the Police Regional Office that he is now finalizing the list of nominees for the next police chief of Talisay City.

Only one of the three nominees is qualified to hold the position for holding the rank of police superintendent.

Under the Philippine National Police Reform Law or Republic Act 8551, a city police station should be led by someone who holds the rank of police superintendent.

Valmoria said he will also endorse additional nominees once the 40 police superintendents from other regions and PNP Units arrive.

Police Regional Office-7 Deputy Director for Administration Chief Superintendent Federico Terte said the Regional Senior Officers Promotion and Placement Board will already convene next week to choose firstly the officer to be assigned in Talisay City.

PRO-7 director Chief Superintendent Ronald Roderos said the 40 police superintendents are coming from units like the Criminal Investigation and Detection Office and from the regions like the National Capital Region Police Office, Region IV-A and Region III.

“They have an overflow of police superintendents so they have to be distributed to other regions particularly Region VII,” Roderos said.
