Provincial board members Victor Maambong and Joven Mondigo, who have been very vocal about their support to Customs official Purita Parojinog, said they will withdraw their support for her if she cannot fully justify her qualifications during the PB's caucus this June 19.
Maambong said the issue is about her qualification and not her rank.
"Naunsa naman nuon ni, we have already endorsed many government officials to the government's top post just like chief justice Davide, the PNP chief, Ace Barbers, kini na nuong bureau ra pagkadaghan na hinuong kisaw," Maambong added.
Mondigo, who is also one of the sponsors of the said resolution endorsing Parojinog to the post also said he may also withdraw his signature, but will hold this off until he hears straight from Parojinog herself of her qualifications.
"Although di maayo ang atong mga nadunggan, let us give her a chance to explain first, based on her bio-data ra man gud to ang atong pag-approve sa resolution sa iyang endorsement." Mondigo said.
The PB, in their session last Monday, approved the resolution endorsing Parojinog to the position of Customs collector of Cebu. But Customs district collector Lourdes Mangaoang has insisted that Parojinog is not qualified to replace her because the latter does not have a third-level eligibility.
A third-level eligibility means that the applicant should have passed the Career Executive Service Examination administered by the Civil Service Commission.
Corazon Azaña, chief of the administrative service of the BOC in Manila, also confirmed that Parojinog is not qualified for the position because contrary to her claim that she is holding a Collector V plantilla based on the bio-data she submitted to the PB, she is only holding a plantilla of assistant division chief.
Parojinog is currently assigned as acting chief of the Entry Processing Unit of the Formal Entry Division of the port of Manila. - Flor Z. Perolina
