City allots P3M for gas rations of city vehicles

The city council has set aside P3.8 million for fuel allocation of the city until January 8 next year so as not to hamper its peace and order as well as garbage disposal operations.

In its special session last Tuesday, the city council approved the proposed measure of councilor Jocelyn Pesquera covering such appropriation to be charged to Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation funds. The city council had its last regular session for this year on December 14.

The said council measure was in view of the letter-request of General Services Office chief Ester Cubero to the city council dated December 19, indicating the need to appropriate funds for the fuel allocation.

Attached to her letter to the city council was the same letter-request she addressed to the mayor and which the latter had approved for council consideration.

In her letter, Cubero said the city's budget for fuel this year would be exhausted by December 21, and thus they need 90,000 liters more for diesel amounting to P2.7 million at P30 per liter, and 30,000 liters more for unleaded gasoline estimated to cost a little over P1 million at P36.256 per liter to keep all the city vehicles and equipment operational "in order not to hamper our peace and order and garbage disposal operations until January 8, 2006."

She further explained her request for fuel allocation is to last until January 8 to give GSO ample time to process documents for the purchase of fuel for the month of January.

Meanwhile, the city council also approved a separate resolution for a one-month extension of its contract with RDAK Transport Equipment, Inc., that is from December 1 to 31, for the lease of 40 two-wheel drive multicabs and another 10 four-wheel drives. - Cristina C. Birondo
