E-training for teachers to last for10 months

E-Training for Science and Mathematics Teachers is slated for ten months by the Science Education Institute of the Department of Science and Technology in October 2005 until 2006. This on-line training aims to upgrade the competencies of science and mathematics teachers in the elementary and secondary levels.

The subject areas to be offered are as follows: Elementary Mathematics 3 and 4; Elementary Mathematics 5; Elementary Mathematics 6; High School Mathematics 1; High School Mathematics 2; High School Mathematics 3; High School Mathematics 4; Elementary Science 3 and 4; Elementary Science 5&6; High School Science 1 (General Science); High School Science 3 (Biology); High School Science 3 (Chemistry); and High School Science 4 (Physics).

Scholarship privileges will also be provided by DOST-SEI, such as free training fees, free training materials. IT allowance, travel expenses, and 50 percent cost of People's PC.

Applicants must be a Filipino citizen, teaching in the Philippines in private or public schools wherein the subject applied for is a non-major in that subject, must have basic computer and internet skills.

The applicant must be willing and able to learn on-line and must have attended any Regional Science Teaching Center teacher training program, must be committed to teach in the Philippines and must be willing to sign a scholarship contract with DOST-SEI.
