Carla's Formal Engagement to Chris

PEOPLE PLACES - Flor S. YNCLINO -

“I’m the happiest father tonight,” declared Carlos Yeung when he made a very brief message regarding the formal engagement of eldest daughter Carla Marie. This was seconded by the very excited mom, Mariquita S. Yeung, who was at the apex of her happiness when Carla promised she will definitely live in Cebu. And the last to speak was only son Martin Philip who still has that Pepperdine accent. He loves his big sister very much and wished her and Chris McKown the very best in their lives. It was all gleeful and happy moments…no sign of emotional feelings as Carlos and Kit were ecstatic their eldest heiress would finally settle down.

During cocktails at the Ocean Pavillion, we noticed that no one among the women wore black, because it was the special request of the father-of-the-bride-to-be that the ladies should wear colorful, bright and happy color for the night. So the ladies complied and the gentlemen wore afternoon suits.

As the invite was August 28 (8-28), by eight o’clock all the 80 guests moved to the Mactan Ballroom where they were seated at the longest every stretch of table, sitting the 80 friends and relatives. Teresin Mendezona, who did the marvelous planning and arrangements from the table décor with a thousand pink and white rosebuds flown from Baguio and the hundreds of scented candles, couldn’t believe the end result was just so magnificent she got all the kudos. Carlos’ favorite Petrous wines (he reserved these for the occasion), was specially served with sparkling Champagne and white wines, non-stop. As Carlos was grinning, he said to us…nothing is spared for his fave daughter. So dinner was very, very special that evening that it cost no less than six figures per head.
