Shangri-La's Mactan Offers Icamp For Teens

-

CEBU, Philippines – Dynamic and active teens will have a blast when they join Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa’s iCAMP from April 19 to 22, 2010. iCAMP is a summer camp program designed specially for teens ages 13 to 16. For four days and three nights, teen campers will experience an adventure like no other as they engage in character-building programs with their peers. Each day holds new and interesting discoveries for teen campers, with daily themed activities that are tailored to enhance their independence, teamwork, camaraderie, sportsmanship and environmental awareness.

Skill-building programs on land and sea are sure to entertain campers while providing them with a venue for experiential learning. In addition to these fun-filled courses, talent-enhancing activities, such as fire-zipping lessons, capoeira, karaoke, and interactive games, are designed to enhance the teen campers’ self-confidence. Talks by experts on marine biology, engineering and corporate social responsibility help to develop the campers’ ecological awareness and sustainable thinking, and are followed by hands-on activities.

Day one is Discovery Day and begins with a warm welcome and a general orientation, followed by lunch at Tides, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa’s all-day dining restaurant. In the afternoon, campers are given the opportunity to get to know their peers as they are grouped into teams. A tour of the hotel facilities and a basic camping course, including orienteering, a first aid class, fire-building and tent-pitching lessons, are just some of the afternoon activities that will keep active campers busy. Discovery Day is capped with a fiery fellowship night for all campers and key officers of the resort. A bonfire will keep everyone warm while they enjoy a fire dance show and cheering competition. Adventurous campers can also take the opportunity to learn the basics of fire-zipping.

Day two is Island and Marine Adventure Day, with most of the day spent outdoors as campers explore different protected marine areas and learn more about the natural balance of the marine ecosystem through snorkeling, a discovery dive and island-hopping. Adrenaline-seeking campers will be thrilled with motorized water sports activities, such as jet-skiing and banana boat rides. A grilled lunch served on one of the outlying islands of the Mactan Channel will give the campers a true taste of island life. Back at the resort, an action-packed afternoon awaits campers with an Amazing Race.

Day three is Environmental Pursuits Day, dedicated to developing ecological awareness and self confidence in the teen campers. Morning activities include environmental lessons, a tree-planting activity, and a tour around the resort while identifying various flora. Exciting outdoor activities, such as wall-climbing, rappelling, a rope course, a Tyrolean traverse, and walk-a-plank, will keep the campers busy for the rest of the afternoon.

On the final day, teen campers cook a solidarity pizza to be shared with the rest of their group. A farewell lunch with an awards ceremony is the last activity before the iCAMPERS bid their camp-mates goodbye.

Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa’s iCAMP is offered for teenagers aged between 13 and 16. The iCAMP Package is available for P27,500.00 net per camper, which includes three nights’ accommodation in a Superior Gardenview Room, all meals, a summer camp kit and activities. For inquiries and reservations about Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa’s iCAMP, please call (032) 2318193 or email [email protected]
