The Bagley's Dinner

Tom and Alana Bagley played hosts to 30 American friends and a handful of Filipinos like Jonathan and May Acuba, Gerry and Fiza Du, and Felicia, at a dinner dance at their home in Mission Viejo, CA. Alana is a Cebuana and in fact, studied at the University of the Visayas during the early ninety-fives. She is married to Tom Bagley who is a complete musician – a composer, pianist and a singer. He is the lead singer in his band Shout that entertains clientele in San Diego, CA.

Alana’s dinner featured an all-Filipino cuisine like lechon, palabok, kare-kare, menudo with Waldorf salad and a tableful of sinful desserts like Tiramisu, biko, leche flan, fruit salad, cookies, brownies not to mention the overflowing wines which are the favorite of the Americans.

Immediately after dinner, while some guests indulged in drinking, some took to the floor and danced as Tom and members of his band dished out pretty good danceable music. What caught our attention was the presence of an elderly lady named Gloria Pickling who was on the floor, dancing non-stop. I was amazed of her energy, and at 89, she could dance with the younger guys, dancing the disco till midnight. She was awesome that after the party, she drove home her son who had too much to drink!

On February 13 at 6PM, Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino will once again hold “Fire In the Sky 2010” – a grand celebration to usher in the Year of the Tiger. As in the present years, to be presented is a Classical Oriental Entertainment featuring a traditional lion and dragon dance and a spectacular fireworks display. But of course, the ever-gracious host, GM Marco Protacio, will be there to welcome all the invited guests.
