Halloween, Chaine-style

CEBU, Philippines - Traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating is a mainstay of most Halloween celebrations. It is one of those times of the year where you are able to create unique parties and think of wild things to dress up as.

While the merriment is centered on kids donning their masks and costumes, the adults in recent years have adopted this spooky festivity to get together with friends and have their own fun and party, as well.

The Chaine des Rotisseurs gearing away from the usual by-monthly strictly formal affair opted to hang loose as they celebrated Halloween at the newly refurbished Cebu City Marriott Hotel.

Adhering to the dress code, most members came in black which blended well with the Harry Potter themed party .Efficient attendants with sparkling wines and mojitos ushered them into the black-covered foyer where general manager Roy Abraham, dressed as Lord Voldemort, warmly welcomed them.

Dinner followed at the Grand Ballroom which was entirely draped in yards upon yards of black material to mirror the great hall of Hogwarts. Snippets of the fantasy movie flashed on widescreen added significantly to   the Harry Potter ambiance.

A large number of serving staff moved around the two very long, elegantly decorated rectangle tables that had antique candelabras as centerpieces. Like clock work guests were served simultaneously.

The menu’s well-prepared dishes were remarkable in their presentation, each one full of imagination and delicate taste. They were well complemented by carefully selected wines.

Towards the end of the evening, Bailli Delegue Philippines Michel Lhuillier together with members of the board Teresin Mendezona, Al Evangelio, Nestor Alonso and David Sharpe presented several Certificates of Appreciation. Proudly accepting well deserved applause after applause were General Manager Roy Abraham, Director of Operations Dottie Viajar Wugler, Executive Chef Witold Leszek Szczechura, Executive Sous Chef Gina Limot and their staff.

Praise was unanimous for the marvelous setting, flawless service and skillfully prepared and creatively presented meal.

And so we experienced another great evening, the result of the tremendous effort from the Cebu City Marriott Hotel’s management and staff.
