The Philippine Senate congratulated and commended the artists and production team of the country’s highest-grossing film “Rewind,” which will start streaming on Netflix this March 25.
Senator Robin Padilla, in his Senate Resolution No. 909, emphasized the film’s role in revitalizing the Philippine film industry.
“This achievement is a testament to the return of a vibrant and flourishing Philippine film industry -- attributed to the hard work and commitment of artists, writers, directors, and all members of the production teams," he said.
Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, director Mae Cruz Alviar, Kris Gazmen and Marizel Martinez of Star Cinema, Jojo Oconer and Michael Tuviera of APT Entertainment were present to receive a copy of the Senate resolution during the ceremony.
“Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera-Dantes serve as inspiration, not only as artists on screen but also as one of the inspiring couple celebrities championing family values, entrepreneurship, and philanthropic deeds to help our fellow countrymen,” the Senate Resolution stated.
It further added, “Recognizing this victory as well as the people behind it proves our pride and gratitude to those who relentlessly work to contribute to the evolution of the country’s cinematic landscape.”
Senate Majority Leader Joel Villanueva praised “Rewind” for highlighting the importance of expressing love in everyday life.
“Ipinaalala po ng mga eksena sa pelikula na walang rewind button ang buhay kaya po dapat sikapin pong ipadama araw-araw ang pagmamahal at pagpapahalaga sa ating pamilya at sa kapwa,” he shared.
Following the film’s success, Sen. Risa Hontiveros sees this as a promising sign for a brighter future for the Philippine film and entertainment industry.
"Nais kong magpugay sa kanila at higit doon nais kong ipahayag ang taos-pusong pasasalamat sa isang bagong pag asang ibinigay kahit sa ating mga manonood na Pilipino sa kinabukasan ng sining at kultura dito sa ating bansa,” she said.
