The ‘Gameboys’ actor fans love to hate

STAR CIRCUIT - Ricky Calderon - The Freeman

“Gameboys” once again sent netizens into a frenzy with its episode Friday night where Kokoy de Santos and Elijah Canlas finally met each other the much-awaited encounter sealed with a kiss in between a plastic cover.

The Twitter universe exploded anew, making the YouTube series the number one topic again.

This time, Star Circuit is featuring Kyle Velino, who plays Terrence, the former boyfriend of Gavreel (Kokoy). Since “Gameboys” will also have a movie version, we trust that The IdeaFirst Company will give Kyle an important role in the film.

Even if he only had a brief appearance, Kyle said he is happy to be part of “Gameboys” and to be able to work with such wonderful and talented people

“Blessed po ako dahil tinangkilik po nila si Terrence and it won’t be possible po without Direk Ivan and my fellow actors,” said Kyle. “I will forever be grateful to them kasi ako yung late-comer eh. They all knew each other from before and I’m the new member pero they welcomed me into their family. And maybe that’s the secret of ‘Gameboys.’ Because we work as a team and we treat each other as family. “

Asked how he was able to portray his role as Terrence well, Kyle gives credit to his co-stars. “Sobrang smooth and super light nilang katrabaho lahat. We always motivate each other lalo na yung mga part na pabigat nang pabigat yung scenes. We were all there to help each other. And maybe that’s the secret kaya successful ang ‘Gameboys.’

He didn’t actually audition for the role, but he did try out for a movie under IdeaFirst Company two years ago. That’s how they remembered him.

“The moment my handler told me about it, I didn’t hesitate. I quickly accepted the role. Terrence is a very challenging role and sobrang pressure because my first appearance in the series was in episode 4 na. Super sikat na nung ‘Gameboys’ and siyempre nandoon na yung pressure kung paano ako makikipagsabayan with Kokoy, Adrianna and Elijah.”

“That’s why I was nervous and pressured at the same time. Kaya super thankful din ako with the whole team especially to Direk Ivan, kasi without him, the outcome would be different. Actually before yung mga past teleseryes ko puro character actor din ang role ko. But this is my biggest break so far, and I’m glad that I am able to showcase what I’ve got.”

One thing Terrence likes in being an actor is he can be whoever he wants through his portrayals.

“You give life to the characters you play and the good thing about it is you learn and discover a lot about yourself as you go through the process. Terrence gave me the chance to show what I’ve got. I’m so blessed to see how people react to the role,” he shared.

There was even this thing about #AntiTerrenceBill, which he finds very funny, but that was one of the first things they told him during briefing — that fans might hate him. “I dont mind being hated kasi if they hate you it means you’re doing a great job. It’s okay with me na magalit sila nang magalit as long as mas gumaganda yung series.”

Kyle says it’s a privilege to be a part of “Gameboys” not only because it is the first BL series in our country but also because of the people he is working with. He finds it just amazing how IdeaFirst Company came up with this.

“We are very thankful because we are so loved by people from different countries. They admire ‘Gameboys’ because it has successfully shown that you can love who you want to love. It doesn’t matter if you’re a boy or a girl. You just love who you want. Love without boundaries...that even amidst this pandemic we can still find real love. “

Kyle knows that Terrence is not really a lovable character but he hopes that some will find it in their hearts not to hate him.

“Nagmamahal lang naman siya. Kay Gav lang niya naramdaman yung true love. Yun lang, people make mistakes. Siguro nagkamali si Terrence and that’s part of life. We deserve second chances naman. Terrence is a nice guy. Yun nga lang sometimes we make bad decisions and actions for love.”

As foe his message to the fans of

“Gameboys,” Kyle said, “Thank you so much for your unending love and support. None of this would be possible if not for all of you. Kayo po ang inspiration namin kaya we always make sure that we do our best in every episode. Thank you for everything and may God bless us all. On behalf of ‘Gameboys,’ maraming salamat po. Stay safe and healthy!
