CEBU, Philippines - The search is on for the country’s representative to be the next Miss Scuba International 2014.

This year’s national search, Miss Scuba Philippines, will be held at the Pacific Cebu Resort managed by Sáv Hospitality in Mactan, Cebu this September 26.

The winner will then represent the Philippines in this year’s international pageant to be held in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia on November 28.

The Miss Scuba International pageant started in 2011 and is founded by Robert Lo who is a strong believer in sustainable development within the realms of the marine environment.

Lo hopes that through this pageant, it will enable more people to understand how fragile the oceans are and how to make a big difference by protecting it.

Pacific Cebu Resort Acting Hotel Manager Reynold Belandres said that “this one-of-a-kind pageant promotes scuba diving and ocean preservation while celebrating the inner beauty and courage of today’s women.”

Belandres added that the pageant also aims to promote safe diving practices through worldwide professional training organizations, and to elevate international tourism and cultural appreciation.

The winning delegate of Miss Scuba International 2014 will undergo an intensive year-long ocean conservation campaigns to educate and inspire everyone in safeguarding the oceans.

Last year, Miss Scuba Philippines Christine Paula Love Bernasor won first runner-up, coming in second to winner Jaime Lee Faulkner from United Kingdom. The Ormoc City-born Bernasor earned her college degree at the University of San Carlos, and previously joined Miss Cebu and Miss Mandaue.

This year, the country hopes to bring home the crown.
