Cebuano film 'Eleuteria' garners 2 awards at Cinema One Originals

CEBU, Philippines - “Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria” picked up two distinctions at the recently held awards night of Cinema One Originals 2010 in Manila. It won Jury Prize (which is equivalent to a first runner-up finish) and the Best Musical Score by Jerrold Tarog.

“Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria” is 90-minute long Cebuano dramedy directed by Remton Zuasola. Based on a story by Maria Victoria Beltran, it is produced by Beverly Tañedo and  Jiji Borlasa.

It tells a story of a young provincial lass who becomes a mail order bride to hoist her family from poverty. Donna Gimeno plays Eleuteria. She is a Cebuana who lives specifically in Olango Island, a well-known stopover for migratory birds from the Northern Hemisphere when the weather turns cold. “Ang Damgo ni Eleuteria” tells where unrealistic dreams can lead us.
