GMA Network wins 7 awards at US International Film and Video Fest

GMA Network won seven awards and several citations at the US International Film and Video Festival (USIFVF). The awarding ceremony was held last June 7 in Hollywood , California.

GMA News and Public Affairs brought home six awards from the said international award-giving body, the highest number of honors received by any news organization in the country this year. GMA’s sister station, QTV, took home a gold award as well. 

Philippine Agenda’s Education episode, which was hosted by Jessica Soho, bagged the Gold Camera Award for the Documentary/Public Issues and Concerns category. 

QTV’s Entertainment show Proudly Filipina won the Gold Camera Award for the Entertainment/Motivational category.

Philippine Agenda’s Health episode hosted by Arnold Clavio received the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Public Issues and Concerns category.

News magazine show Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho won the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Social Issues category. 

Wish Ko Lang, on the other hand, bagged the Silver Screen Award for the Entertainment/ Motivational Category.

I-Witness’ Iskul Ko Number 1, which was produced and written by Sandra Aguinaldo, received the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Social Issues category. The same episode also bagged a Silver World Medal at the 2008 New York Festivals.

Reporter’s Notebook’s Batang Kalakal by Maki Pulido bagged the Silver Screen Award for the Documentary/Social Issues category. It also won a Gold World Medal at the 2008 New York Festivals.

Other shows cited for Creative Excellence were 100% Pinoy’s Kalabaw episode, I-Witness’ documentaries Batang Kalabaw and Gapos,  Reporter’s Notebook’s Pulong Diablo story, and Q-11’s May Trabaho Ka and Kids on Q.

Twenty-three countries submitted entries in this year’s competition.
