Leviste allowed to post bail

Koolerah & D Digital Buchitoongs, the voice behind “Small World” which assimilates romantic lines to air the sentimentality of KDB’s Ronald Fernandez (vocals), Regene “Ejing” Vilvestre (guitars), Archel Ian Arriesgado (bass) and newbie drummer identified only as Meox, releases an Extended Play album. It features other tracks Mas Maayo Unta, POLE (Prisoners of Love’s Emotions), Wa Gyud! and Estong which is one of Smash-BisrocKabataan program’s most requested songs in the late part of last year.

“Nakahinumdum ka pa ba/kadtong nagkuyog tang duha/nanglakaw sa eskina/atong giapas si Jessa/akong gisulti ang tanan/nga gibati ko kanimo/apan niingon ka “pasensya na gihigugma ko siya”/Akong gidawat ang tanan/bisan sakit sa akong dughan/magpaabot nga malooy ka/ning kabos nga nahigugma kanimo…” so goes “Small World” in the EP entitled “Murag Para Emo Ni (Pero Dili Pa), a reflection of the emo-punk sound preferred by this bunch of Lapu-Lapu skateboarders and graphic artists who bundled up to form KDB.

Name stands for “wala lang. Reflection lang na’s pagka-cool ug pagka-sipat sa mga taga KDB. Play-up lang sa mga words. Happy lang gihapon paminawon maskin nagkalisod-lisod ug nagkamalas-malas,” guitarist Ejing explained the first time I met them for an interview.

KDB’s very successful “Estong” continuously receives airplay requests, despite a heap of new songs that made it to Smash-ing airwaves. “Hayag ang buwan/ug dili ngitngit ang dalan/ngano bang mahadlok ka man/nga parehas man tang talawan/parehas tang kusog managan/wa ka ba’y nadunggan/wa ka ba’y nasabtan/bisan og gamay lang/naglabing kahadlok/nanubra ang butbot/pangutan-on di ba isog/puti diay’g it**g/sukmati di umangkon/sobra ka bakakon/Estong butboton/talawan di moangkon/Estong butboton/masuko og sungogon/Estong butboton/talawan ra ba gyud intawon.”

“Maong makalingaw ni nga kanta kay maka-relate man hapit tanan maminaw because there is an Estong in everyone of us,” vocalist Ronald said.

The album is produced by the group and distributed by 1 Fine Day Records. To order, contact 09202958422 or 09287572306. Visit friendster.com/koolerah and myspace.com/koolerah.

KDB dedicates the album to their supportive families and to those who are Bisrock music enthusiasts. To DJ Ram and Bré of Smash, Zarah Smith of Handuraw and staff Insoy, Janice and Lupac; Zzubu Rock Bar, all indie artists/bands, and all members of 7 Hall Skaters, and their loved ones. – Maria Eleanor E.
