CEBU, Philippines — After it opened its 4.5 hectare adventure camp, the Evo Nature Camp is planning to create a curated nature trail along the mountains of barangay Ga-as, municipality of Balamban.

In a press conference, Evo Nature Camp founder Edwin Ortiz announced his collaboration with Habagat Outdoor Equipment, and the local government of Balamban to introduce another attraction initially covering barangay Ga-as’ rich natural resources.

According to Ortiz, this partnership is the company’s way of helping the economy of barangay Ga-as to optimize its tourism potential, and promote eco-tourism.

Aside from establishing a curated nature trail, Ortiz, together with Habagat co-owner architect Randy Su, will help the local government of Ga-as to develop sound culture of tourism among its residents.

“Eco-tourism is today’s new agriculture. Barangay Ga-as alone is rich in resources which have good tourism potential,” said Ortiz, adding that by offering tourism related revenue streams, residents’ livelihood should not be limited to agriculture.

Su, who is also an architect by profession, said the entire Barangay Ga-as’ geography is conducive to nature trail. If this can be further developed and curated, this can attract tourists from all over the world.

The trail will include waterfalls, caves, rock formations, gardens, farms, among others.

Ortiz recently opened Cebu’s newest nature and adventure escapade called Evo Nature Camp.                The facility offers unique activities for “glamping” (glamourous camping) that are designed to amuse visitors, on top of the already calming treat of nature .

Soon, he said offerings and facilities may include Boy Scout camps, children summer camps, among others.

In a separate interview with Klook market leader for the Philppines Michelle Cruz, she said that the Hong Kong-based in-destination services platform, is pushing Cebu’s experiential tourism attractions, to quench the interest of active young travelers around the world.

Cruz said, Klook is looking at partnering local tourism operators, especially in the municipalities and town where adventure tourism can be more promoted.

Cruz said the company is increasing its engagement with communities in Cebu, in order to promote the off-the-beaten attractions in the municipalities taking into consideration that travelers from all over the world prefer to visit places that are not yet popular.
