Merzci expands production in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines — Bacolod-based pasalubong maker Merzci is setting up a warehouse and production facilities in Cebu, following its move to pursue extensive expansion here.

Operated by CM & Sons Food Products,. Inc., its president and chief executive officer Jonathan Manuel Lo announced that the company will soon start the construction of a 600 square-meter facility in Pakna-an Mandaue to pursue its planned expansion in Cebu and other neighboring provinces.

Last week, Merzci opened its first outlet in Cebu at Unit 5, Arcenas Building on Colon Street. This is the company’s 63rd outlet in the country.

Merzci Pasalubong, the maker of Bacolod’s delicacy favorites such as biscocho, piyaya, napoleones, among others, plans to open at least six outlets in Cebu by 2020.

Lo believes that the Cebu market has huge potential, and is far from being saturated in terms of these kinds of “sweet delights.”

Aside from the huge Cebuano market, Cebu is also an strategic location for its Mindanao expansion, he said.

Established in 1995, the company which bannered the brand Merzci is one of the leading bread and food pasalubong producer in Bacolod City and the island of Negros.

Started as a bakeshop, the business now spans to fastfood, pasalubong, and purified water.

To date, Merzci has a total of 63 branches 47 in Negros Occidental, two in Negros Oriental, three in Dumaguete, nine in Negros and Panay Island.

Three will be opened within this year in Silay, Iloilo, and Cebu.
