Be Grand Resort applies for PEZA accreditation

CEBU, Philippines —  Following the implementation of its expansion plan, the Be Grand Resort in Panglao, Bohol, is now applying for Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) accreditation.

Be Resorts Group president Grand Benedicto said once the company will acquire accreditation from PEZA, the property will then be adding another 500 rooms more.

Benedicto said that PEZA registration is important for the company to gain competitive edge, as it stands to enjoy tax holidays and other fiscal perks.

Aside from additional room accommodations by constructing more building within the five-hectare property, the company is also aiming to strengthen its edge in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibits (MICE) market.

Moreover, it is also expanding its function facilities such as the ballroom, for it to accommodate an average of 1,000 people.

In an earlier interview with Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) director general Charito Plaza, she said that her office is fast tracking registration approvals for tourism industry ecozones, especially in Panglao Island in Bohol.

“We are now processing applications for tourism ecozones in Panglao Island” Plaza said.

The upcoming tourism ecozone in Panglao Island in Bohol is situated near the Panglao International Airport.

Be Grand Resort in Panglao is developed by Cebu-based Enrison Holdings Inc., (EHI), which also operates the Be Resort Mactan, Mabuhay Towers in IT Park, the recently launched Be Residences, and two more buildings to rise at the Cebu Business Park.

EHI chairman Enrique Benedicto said he is confident of the country’s economy boosted by the people’s strong trust in the Duterte administration, citing the improving quality of peace and order in the country.

Even the brewing US and China trade war has yet to affect the Philippines’ economic strength, the respected Consul-entrepreneur said.

Because of this, his property development arm continues to look for opportunities either within Cebu or outside the province to expand its real estate business.

Benedicto mentioned Dumaguete as well as Siquijor provinces as the probable locations of the company’s out-of-Cebu expansion, depending however, on the availability of good and strategic properties in these areas.
