CEBU, Philippines — Over a thousand jobs are up for grabs with the anticipated opening of the Ayala Malls Central Bloc shopping mall at the IT Park Cebu before the year ends.

The mall management headed by Ayala Malls Visayas and Mindanao operations head Clavel Tongco opened a two-day Job Fair yesterday at the Ayala Center Cebu activity center as Ayala Malls Central Bloc is set to open within the year.

About 57 mall tenants participated in the career fair with initial job requirements reaching to more than a thousand.

According to Ayala Center Cebu general manager Anna Ma. Margarita B. Dy, about 100 stores/merchants will open once the Ayala Malls Central Bloc starts its commercial operation. The mall has over 200 available store spaces, excluding kiosks and carts.

Ayala Malls Central Bloc is the fifth Ayala regional mall in Visayas and Mindanao. The mall is integrated within a building where a hotel and office buildings are also located.

“There are a lot of things to expect in our new mall. We have a lot of specialty stores opening, as well as homegrown brands. We are targeting a different market here so the tenant mix is carefully chosen,” added Tongco.

The five-story mall is 100 percent complete, however the management is only waiting for the completion of tenants’ stores construction.

Because the mall will have a different market set-up, its store operations is from 11 in the morning to 11 in the evening.

The Central Bloc development will have 45,000 square meters of retail gross leasable area (GLA) and an office GLA of 72,000 sq.m.

Developed by Central Bloc Developers, Inc., the project also will give rise to two new BPO office towers. (FREEMAN)
