In Augusto Go’s hospitals: Pag-IBIG members get 8% off on medical bills
CEBU, Philippines — Medical expenses usually eat up much of a consumer's budget.
Availing medical services has become more expensive nowadays.
Seeking to at least bring down the ever rising medical costs, Pag-IBIG Fund signed a memorandum of agreement with Cebu-based UCMed and St. Vincent General Hospital (SVGH) -- both owned by Cebuano business tycoon Atty. Augusto Go -- to give the former's members an 8% discount on the latter's medical services.
In a press conference on Friday, Rio Teves, vice president for member services operations at Pag-IBIG, said the discount can be availed by the company’s loyalty card members.
Loyalty card members can avail of 8% discount on room rates, laboratory tests, imaging tests and procedures, diagnostic tests and procedures at UCMed and SVGH.
He said that at present, there are about 700,000 Pag-IBIG loyalty card members in Cebu.
Teves said this is one way to cut medical costs of their members, noting that health expenses -- such as medicines and hospitalization -- account for a bulk of a person's budget aside from food.
Teves said the state-run financial firm also seeks to diversify its services from the traditional housing and multi-purpose loans.
He said this is agency's first partnership with a hospital company in Cebu.
He added that Pag-IBIG wasn't considering yet partnering with other hospitals for the same purpose. (FREEMAN)
