Good communications system needed to support BPO growth

CEBU, Philippines - With the continuous growth of businesses in Cebu, especially with the upsurge of Business Process Outsourcing companies, the need for stable and good communications system is a necessity to support the growth and continue the coming in of investors.

Global System for Mobile Communications Association Senior Director for services Jaikishan Rajaraman told members of the press during a recent visit to the Philippines that the growth of businesses in one place goes hand in hand with the rise of better communications system.

GSMA represents the worldwide mobile communications industry in 219 countries with almost 800 of the world’s mobile operators as members.

In Cebu for example, Rajaraman explained that since the BPOs are emerging, the need for stable communications system is a must since this is part of the operations of the companies.

He said that foreign companies who have their base offices in other countries see the importance of good connections since they need to connect anytime and also since BPOs cater to clients outside of the Southeast Asian region.

With good communications, Rajaraman said that this would encourage more investors to come in the country and put in their businesses.

This would not only help the country’s economy, but Rajaraman said that it would also help create more jobs and provide better lives to the community as a whole.

Rajaraman was in Manila recently for the Philippines Telecom International Summit 2009 where he discussed the current status of mobile broadband in the worldwide scene and how it is used in the Philippines.

Rajaraman pointed out the small support of the Filipino market for the Mobile Broadband with only less than a million users in the Philippines despite the large number of mobile broadband users coming from the Asia Pacific region with 56.2 Million.

 According to Rajaraman, a locations’ development has a vital role in the increase of more people using mobile broadband.
