MANILA, Philippines — Filipina ace Rianne Malixi fired a two-under 69 to get herself in the hunt at the start of The Women’s Amateur Championship Monday at the Muirfield course in Gullane, Scotland.

Malixi birdied two of her first three holes then matched pars in the last 15 en route to the opening 34-35 that put her just four strokes off leader Gracie Mayo of Wales and tied for seventh.

Mayo started her round with six birdies in the first 11 holes.
