SM sets safety standards at OneE-com Center

MANILA, Philippines - As part of a continuing effort to be proactive when it comes to the safety of its employee force and building tenants, clients, the SM Group of Companies recently spearheaded a fire drill at the OneE-comCenter. Lending all-out support was the Pasay City Fire Department, which conducted a routine inspection as part of the exercise.

While serving as a very useful training for building occupants to be fire wise, the fire drill drew attention to SM OneE-comCenter’s compliance with contemporary building and fire codes. “The OneE-comCenter has been designed to provide today’s businesses with all the modern amenities,” Jess Lucas, executive vice president of Shoemart, Inc.’s commercial properties group said. That includes upholding fire safety and security standards.

The emergency preparedness exercise provided the opportunity for building occupants to practice how to work together in case of fire. Such endeavor seeks to enhance skills in mobilization, communication and response, and the ability to account for all personnel within the affected premises.

Companies that participated in the fire drill included SM Investments Corporation, Shoemart, Inc., SM Residences, Highlands Prime, Inc., and the initial batch of OneE-comCenter tenants, including EXL Service Phil., Inc., American President Lines (APL), McDonald’s, Fitness First, Affiliated Computer Systems (ACS), CW Lifestyle Bistro Café, Bacolod Chicken Inasal, HSBC, Blenz Coffee, Starbucks, and Banco de Oro.

Located within the SM Group’s Mall of Asia Complex, the 105,857-square meter OneE-comCenter is a 10-storey building which has become home to contact centers, business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, and reputable retail players.

The OneE-comCenter is one of the flagship projects of the SM Group, which is commemorating its 50th anniversary with a series of events celebrating the company’s milestones, fittingly dubbed “50 years of Serving Millions.”
