Palawan has won hearts for its picturesque views and beautiful landscapes. And now, the city has welcomed an aggressive player in the auto industry to bring mobility solutions closer to the province.

FOTON Motor Philippines, Inc. (FMPI), the exclusive distributor of FOTON vehicles in the country, has once again expanded its retail footprint with the opening of its new dealership in Puerto Princesa, Palawan last January 17.

According to FMPI President Rommel Sytin, “The launching is actually very timely — I’ve seen all the projects and the whole vision for the province of Palawan, and FOTON will be a great help not only in its promotion as a tourist destination but in providing the best option in vehicles.”

Located along the stretch of North National Highway in Barangay Tagburos, Puerto Princesa City, the dealership is managed by first-time-automotive-venturers, Steering Wheel, Inc. (SWI).

“We, in the local car dealing and transport industry believe that our business endeavours are here to complement the development pursuits of the city and provincial governments,” said Tederico Tiotangco, Dealer Principal of FOTON Puerto Princesa.

Present during the inauguration was Provincial Governor Jose Alvarez, who was visibly amazed with the brand’s progress in the city. “Through the years, I saw how FOTON has improved its development and turned into a very nice and heartwarming company. Right now they are doing very great. But in the long run, I believe they will be even better. So I hope there will be more ventures like this in Palawan because I believe that the business side of the province’s growth can also affect the chances of the people to upgrade their lives for the better,” he noted.

Supporting the current government administration plans in developing roads, bridges and infrastructures known as the “Build, Build, Build” program, the province of Palawan facilitates projects aiming to strengthen Philippine tourism trade with partner states in the Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA), a sub-regional economic cooperation initiative which recognizes “connectivity as vital for the seamless movement of goods, services and people.

“Along that line, FOTON Puerto Princesa is here to serve and meet the needs for transportation and development through our wide array of commercial vehicles, and earth-moving equipment. As the major distributor of Foton trucks and cars in Palawan, we are opening our doors to every Palaweño who may wish to patronize our products and establish a business relationship with us in the years to come,” added FOTON Puerto Princesa Chief Executive Officer Michelle Tiotangco.

According to Alvarez, the widening of the arterial road traversing the entire length of mainland Palawan is due for completion. The business sector believes that, this big ticket project will further boost the economy of Palawan and the thriving local tourism industry.

“For this, we are ready, and armed with conviction that the brand of service that we will provide shall help in the pursuit of providing a better quality of life for every Palaweño, and eventually, for the entire nation,” said Tiotangco.

Covering more than 4,600sqm which includes the vehicle showroom and service area, FOTON Puerto Princesa is considered to be one of the largest FOTON dealerships. The vehicle showroom has an 8-unit display and has 10 service bays.

In response to the growing number of heavy-duty trucks in the city due to its infrastructure projects, FOTON Puerto Princesa also opened a service facility specially designed to provide comprehensive support for the said product line up. This provides the option of having not only the passenger vehicles, light duty trucks, but also heavy-duty truck models repaired and maintained at a dedicated service center. Previously, servicing of these types of trucks had to be conducted at clients’ respective premises.

“I would like to thank the team of FOTON Puerto Princesa, Palawan for the trust and support in our brand, and in our vision to give every Filipino a chance to experience FOTON, geared with the aggressive goal to empower the Filipino businesses,” gratefully exclaimed Sytin.

Known as the eminent capital of Palawan, Puerto Princesa City is a world-class destination that brings a peep of nature’s best—from the salient limestone caves and underground beauty at the subterranean river, to the clear blue waters of the island beaches, all swarming with loaded and diverse marine life.

Now it is no longer just a haven for the ever-growing number of tourists. It is also gearing to become an investment destination as more firms begin to take notice of the opportunities that the city has to offer. Apparently, FOTON saw a lot of potential in the city which correctly explains its move.
