FORD Gears up for PPCC Championship

MANILA, Philippines –  After winning 5 out 8 races in the 2010 PPCC season, The Ford Focus will once again affirm its domination in Touring Car racing in the country with the Ford Focus-TRS Racing Team this weekend at Clark International Speedway with the support of Ford Racing, Castrol, Goodyear Racing, Standard Insurance, OMP, Discovery Suite, DC shoes, Coke Zero, Oakley, Aguila Auto Glass, 3M, C! Magazine, Dupont, Starbright Bodykits, Ultra Racing, Speedlab, Toptul, Rota Wheels and K&N.

Local touring car racing used to be a Honda Civic dominated grid, up until 4 years ago when the Ford Focus-TRS team fielded 2 unlikely Ford Focus, which were 300 kilos heavier, a newer model and more recently a Fly by wire vehicle. Against all odds the team on their debut year won 2nd overall and in their sophomore year, claimed the top 3 spots of the race series, under the helm of the Tuason Racing School graduates, Stuart Macdonald, Dominic Samson and Michael Tuason, driving the First Diesel Race car of the Series. Now the Ford Focus has become a top placer for the past 4 years in the touring car series.

In 2010, the Ford Focus-TRS racing team has bagged the GT 125 crown with Sean Redpath, a British national and TRS graduate. He now leads the charge for the PPCC crown along with Singaporean Marcus Wong and 2010 Top Driver Challenge Winner Alvin Ng. All three have shared the top spot on board the Ford Focus Race Car, proving the versatility and overall performance superiority of the Ford Focus. “All cars are prepared equally, there are some adjustments for the driving style of the drivers, but the performance heritage of the Ford Focus is just so strong, that it wins no matter who drives it,” quipped JP Tuason, team principal of the Ford Focus-TRS racing team.

“We believe that Ford Focus, has already proven its performance DNA by winning the GT125 and now dominating the PPCC race series. It has been a successful racecar locally and around the world,” Steven Tan, Director of Sales and Marketing for Ford Philippines.
