4 Rizal cops relieved over robbery at chef’s property

MANILA, Philippines — Four members of the Rizal police have been relieved from their posts in connection with a robbery incident at a property of content creator and chef Myke Tatung Sarthou last month.
Two members each of the Baras and Antipolo police were relieved due to possible negligence, according to the Rizal police.
Sarthou said the Baras and Antipolo police refused to act on his complaint due to issues on jurisdiction.
The chef said both police stations were claiming that the other had jurisdiction over the case.
This developed after a man accused of stealing about P4 million worth of items from Sarthou’s resthouse was arrested in Antipolo on Sunday.
The Philippine National Police has ordered a thorough investigation on the matter.
PNP spokesman Col. Allen Rae Co said Rizal police director Col. Eleazar Barber Jr. and the chiefs of the Baras and Antipolo police were being investigated.
Anyone found responsible could face administrative charges, Co said.
PNP chief. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. reminded police officers that jurisdictional boundaries must not be a hindrance in responding promptly to people seeking help.
