Seminar to tackle environmental laws

An orientation seminar on environ-mental laws and management for pol-lution control officers (PCOs) will be conducted by the Department of Envi-ronment and Natural Resources-Envi-ronmental Management Bureau (Region 3) and the Water Environment Associa-tion of the Philippines (WEAP) to enable industries to improve their environmen-tal management and pollution prevention and promote cleaner production programs.

The workshop is set on March 20-22 at the Century Resort Hotel in Balibago, Angeles City, Pampanga.

DENR-EMB Region 3 director Oscar Cabanayan organized the training se-minar to discuss Philippine EIS System, MMT formation and monitoring proto-cols, Clean Water Act, wastewater treat-ment technology, ecological solid waste management, toxic substances and ha-zardous and Nuclear Waste Manage-ment Act, PCO duties and responsibi-lities, persistent organic pollutants, Philipine environmental partnership, MSDS, placarding and labeling, emer-gency response, Clean Water Act (RA 9275), Philippine Clean Air Act, pollution control technology, and preparation of self-monitoring reports.
