Sun Life, Pru Life offer new insurance products

MANILA, Philippines — Sun Life of Canada (Philippines) Inc. has partnered with telehealth firm Kitika Mobile Healthcare Inc. for a personal accident coverage offer.

Under the tie up, qualified Kitika members may avail of a personal accident insurance from Sun Life worth P50,000 which is valid for one year.

The program is open to members aged 18 up to 64 years across various occupations except for military, naval and air service.

“Securing our health and finances has become even more relevant amid the pandemic. We’re delighted to have Kitika as our partner in helping Filipinos achieve these key goals,” said Sun Life president Alex Narciso

Kitika, founded in 2018, is a subscription-based telemedicine service provider that provides round-the-clock services through the aide of nurses, general practitioners and specialist doctors.

Through an app, its nurses perform a triage process to assess a patient’s condition and for referral to the appropriate physician.

This will be followed by teleconsultation with its doctors who will go through symptoms and provide an initial medical impression.

Depending on the case, a treatment plan or e-prescription may be recommended or the patient may be referred to partner specialists for further assessment of his condition.

“Kitika’s collaboration with Sun Life goes an extra step for affordable, convenient, and comprehensive healthcare,” Kitika Mobile Healthcare Inc. managing director, Jerome Sebastian said.
