MANILA, Philippines — Globe Telecom Inc. plans to expand its 5G roaming services to more international destinations across Asia, North America, and Europe in the second quarter.

The telco is gearing up to launch 5G roaming services in Oman, China, Japan, Taiwan, Macao, North America, and select European countries like Belgium and Luxembourg in the next three months.

The expansion will be undertaken to extend 5G connectivity for Filipino workers and travelers, Globe said.

“While travel remains on hold for the time being, Globe continues to be aggressive with its 5G roaming expansion to ensure that we’re always a step ahead of our customers’ needs. Globe will continue to innovate so our customers will be first to experience the many benefits of 5G,” Globe vice president for postpaid and international business Coco Domingo said.

Thailand and UAE were the latest additions to Globe’s global 5G network expansion so far this year.

The company has also successfully cemented its partnership with other telco partners, including Ooredoo in Kuwait and Qatar, SK Telecom in South Korea, and CSL in Hong Kong.

Globe said its 5G roaming services would not be limited to customers travelling out of the Philippines, as foreign travelers visiting the country would also get to enjoy 5G technology.
