Tieza sets roadshows to draw investors

MANILA, Philippines – The Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) will hold a series of roadshows nationwide to attract more businessmen to invest in tourism-related projects in the country.

TIEZA chief operating officer Guiller Asido told The STAR the agency was crafting an investment promotions strategy following the issuance by the Bureau of Internal Revenue of the rules on the grant of fiscal incentives to tourism enterprises.

The main strategy identified under the framework is the conduct of investment roadshows across the country and eventually in other countries as well.
“That will be started by January. We’ll do the rounds first domestically. We’ll be meeting with the local business groups to brief them on the investment strategy,” Asido said.

Asido said the domestic roadshows would be held in coordination with the regional directors of the Department of Tourism.

TIEZA, together with the DOT and the Tourism Promotions Board, will identify the priority foreign markets where it will conduct business missions.

The new regulations released by the BIR provide the guidelines for the grant of fiscal incentives to businesses and operators inside tourism enterprise zones (TEZs).
