MANILA, Philippines - Passengers of the BGC Bus can now use beep cards to pay for rides following an agreement forged by the bus company with AF Payments Inc. (AFPI).
“We are pleased to partner with BGC Bus as this will move us closer to our goal of making the beep card an all-in-one card for commuters in Metro Manila. BGC Buses serve thousands of commuters daily and our goal is to be able to provide them with a reliable and efficient payment system, especially those who hop from the MRT (Metro Rail Transit) or the LRT (Light Rail Transit) to the bus,” AFPI president and chief executive officer Peter Maher said in a statement yesterday.
Under the agreement, BGC Bus which connects Bonifacio Global City to Edsa and Ayala Center, will allow the use of the beep card as payment for the fare.
The fare for the use of the BGC Bus remains at P12.
Prior to the agreement with AFPI, the BGC Bus used the old Tap BGC stored value card.
“We are excited to announce this integration because this gives our BGCitizen commuters more convenience in their daily commute,” Bonifacio Transport Corp. or BGC Bus general manager Jun Galvez said.
AFPI, the consortium of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. and Ayala Corp. which won the P1.72 billion Automatic Fare Collection System public-private partnership project, provides the beep cards.
Riders of the BGC Bus can purchase and load their beep cards in the Ayala and Market Market Terminal, as well as in select Bayad Center, Tambunting, Villarica and SM Bills Payment Counter locations.
“There are also plans to add more loading locations in the coming months, including leading convenience stores,” Maher said.
Earlier, he said there are plans to expand the use of the beep cards to cover even tollways.
