Century Canning’s Banzon wins Agora Award

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Marketing Association has conferred its prestigious Agora Award for Marketing Management to Century Canning Corp. general manager Gregory Banzon.

This is the second recognition of Banzon’s success as general manager of Century Canning, maker of the Philippines’ No. 1 tuna brand, Century Tuna.  The company is also behind household brands 555, Argentina corned beef and Blue Bay.

Banzon was already general manager when Century Canning was named the Marketing Company of the Year in the 2011 Agora Awards.  He joined the company in January 2011.

Under Banzon, Century Canning has created a brand that resonates freshness and health.

He was responsible for marketing concepts that have allowed consumers to become as familiar with both the values and people behind Century’s products.

Banzon received his degree in marketing and marketing management from De La Salle University.

Described as a “business turnaround expert,” he rose through the marketing and sales route with extensive regional marketing experience in the Asia-Pacific, strong in operations and involved in the academe part-time.

The Agora Awards – named after an important commercial site near the Acropolis in ancient Athens – are given to marketing professionals with proven flair in out-of-the-box thinking and trailblazing achievements.
