2 Chinese provinces to send business missions to ASEAN

NANNING, China – The local governments of Chinese cities Nanning and Chongzuo plan to send this year business missions to countries in Southeast Asia to allow their local enterprises to explore business opportunities as well as attract investments from firms in the region.

Nanning Investment Promotion Bureau deputy director Yang Zhoufei said in a seminar for visiting journalists, the city government intends to organize business missions to countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as part of activities to promote greater cooperation between China and the region.

“Many Chinese companies are ready to go to ASEAN,” he said.

Apart from local enterprises expressing interest to see business opportunities in the ASEAN, he said the Chinese local governments also want firms in the region to consider Nanning City as a place to do business.

“Manufacturing and modern services like financial services and consultancy, these are the sectors where we want to attract investments,” he added.

Nanning City, located in the Guangxi Autonomous Region in the south of China, is the permanent host of the annual China-ASEAN Expo which serves as the venue to strengthen trade relations between the countries.

The city has industrial zones such as the Nanning-ASEAN Advanced Business Park and the Nanning New and High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, both providing ASEAN firms an advantage in terms of geographical location and convenient transportation when they invest.

The Nanning-ASEAN Advanced Business Park seeks to attract Fortune 500 companies as locators.
